Stop putting your life on hold until you lose the weight

August 29, 20257 min read

Ok, imagine your life a year from now: you’re on the beach, eating your favourite flavour of ice cream, laughing. And not thinking about your body at all.

You feel the sun on your skin, the sounds of the waves, the laughter around you. The taste of the ice cream on your tongue. You’re relaxed, you’re present. You’re not counting calories or judging your reflection in every single window you walk past.

The truth is that this version of you already exists. She’s not far away, she is here and just waiting for you to say “yes”. Yes to trying something new, to looking deeper. For you to be ready to embrace her.

This is not just a fantasy, a faraway dream that you think you’ll never achieve because it’s just not for you - it’s about what’s possible with real support and healing.

Let’s try another one: Imagine being on a trip with your besties, and being able to enjoy it, instead of constantly comparing your body to theirs. Imagine going to the beach, and feeling good in your swimsuit - not because you’ve necessarily lost weight, but because you feel confident from within and happy in your own skin.

And another one: Imagine going on a first date, feeling good about yourself and about how you look in your lovely outfit. Without worrying about if they’re going to like what they see. Because you know your worth, because you feel beautiful inside and out.

That life, you can get it - I do, after years (decades?) of struggling with my own body image, and my relationship with food. With the right support, that life can be yours 💚

The hidden cost of waiting

Right now, you feel guilty after eating. You check your body in every mirror or window. You start panicking before going on holidays or attending special events. Because what if we can see your belly through your dress? Or if the dress shows your arms? And anyway, nothing fits you, and those people that you haven’t seen in a year will surely wonder what happened to your body and think that you’ve let yourself go.

How much inner chatter and obsessing over food is that creating? Because you’re probably starting to get the thoughts of “I’ll start dieting again on Monday” or, “from next week I’m going to be good and lose some weight”. You start questioning everything on your plate, wondering which of the foods is going to make you put on weight this time.

Because you now have a deadline that you want to reach, you’re putting even more pressure on yourself to get to your goal. And if you don’t, you feel guilty: of course, you have no willpower and just can’t resist food. Of course, that makes you a bad person, and you start restricting even more. You probably even feel insecure just anticipating the summer and what you think people are going to tell you.

So what do you do then? You might cancel the trip, if you haven't reached your goal weight. Or you do go on the trip, but you spend the whole time wondering what people really think of you. You hide whenever it’s time to take photos, and you wear your clothes at the beach because you feel too uncomfortable. Basically, you just don’t let yourself enjoy your trip. And that doesn’t just apply to the trip: you also hold off on going on dating apps because you’re afraid that people will not like your body. You don’t go after that career goal & dream because you don’t feel confident enough.

The truth is, time is going to pass either way - and the longer you wait to find your true freedom, the more life you’re going to postpone and miss out on.

So, what if by next summer, you were already free? And if you’ve spent your summer in what I’ve just described, then I’m sending you lots of hugs, because I know how hard it is, I’ve been there 💚

What shifts when you say yes to something new

Sure, what I shared in the first section sounds amazing, right?

But there are even more benefits to finally healing your relationship with food and with your body. So, let’s get started!

Energy returns: no more mind drama about what you can or can’t eat! Or about what food is good or bad, or what you’re going to eat during the day, and is it good enough, and will you need to compensate with more workouts, and can people see your belly through your dress? Nope, no more of that. Your brain space is yours again - just imagine how much space you’ll have to focus on other things when you’re not obsessing about food or about what you eat! You will get to think about things that make you happy, about your dreams. Not about food.

Confidence grows: you start showing up more in your life instead of hiding. On photos, you wear the clothes you love and that make you feel beautiful. You can go in to a room without immediately comparing yourself to all the other women in there.

Self-trust rebuilds: you stop fearing food. No more thoughts about “what if I eat that and I put on weight?”. No more “If I start eating that pizza, I know I won’t be able to stop and I’ll eat everything in sight". You trust your body and its cues, because it tells you what it wants and needs, when you need to eat and when you need to stop. No more drama.

Gentleness replaces shame: you finally understand what people mean when they say become your own friend first. You respect yourself, and don’t criticise yourself all the time - you have compassion and kindness, not just for others, but for yourself too.

I worked with women who couldn’t stop comparing themselves to other women - dropping the off the kids at school, they always thought that the other moms were all better looking than them. They would enter a room and immediately start categorising who was smaller or bigger than them. They felt like their body just never was as good as other women’s body - and that was constantly in their mind. Thanks to the work we did together, those same women managed to: feel confident and make friends with the other moms at the school drop off; wear bikinis in front of other female friends at the swimming pool; feel confident when entering a room full of women, without needing to compare - able to just be themselves and be proud of that.

Coaching with Maëlle Coaching Session

It doesn’t take becoming perfect - it takes being supported

What I’d like to insist on here is that healing your relationship with food and your body doesn’t come from having more willpower or doing it “right”.

It comes from:

  • Feeling safe in your body (and working with your nervous system)

  • Learning your own worth, so you can feel good in your own skin

  • Having tools that you can use at any time and that meet you where you are.

  • Being witnessed with compassion, not judged. Granting yourself the same respect & kindness you’d give to a loved one.

That’s what we do in Feed your Freedom - I help you get to the root of what’s going on, and I coach you to find solutions that work for you. I help you rewire your nervous system to finally feel safe in your body, and I help you learn to listen to your body and your emotions. And finally, I give you tools that you can use whenever you need them.

I don’t expect you to be perfect, or to become perfect when you come to coaching with me… I’m there to help you build something sustainable and real.

You don’t even need to be “ready”. You just need to be willing to make a change and try something new!

This time next year, you could be free. You could experience a totally different summer than you did this year. You could be living the life you’ve been putting on pause until you lost the weight. Because healing doesn’t come with more waiting - it happens by deciding to try something new.

If you’re ready to take that first step, I’d love to invite you to book your complimentary consult today 💚
